AT BYRNE, WHAT WE KNOW IS AS IMPORTANT AS WHAT WE DO

So we make it our mission to share our extensive industry knowledge and expertise with partners, customers…and anyone else who’s interested. We also realized early on that our company would only ever be as strong as the individuals we hired—so we made it a point to only hire the best.

And that brings us to the story of Bob’s Brain.

Bob’s Brain all began with a real Bob—Bob Knapp. Bob came into the picture at the end of Byrne’s first decade. Byrne began in 1970 and had grown steadily in the manufacturing of wiring harnesses, but it didn’t take long to figure out that competitors could also do what we were doing. Highly competitive and commodity based, there wasn’t much room for differentiation in our market back then. Norm Byrne, the founder, felt strongly that he needed to become a specialist out there, offering custom power solutions. He wanted Byrne to known as a one-of-a-kind supplier. And Bob Knapp was just the man to help make that happen.

With 25 years of experience, Bob came on as Byrne’s first professional engineer and worked to help grow Byrne from a small job shop to a state-of-art contract office furniture supplier.

In his 35 years at Byrne, Bob built and led teams as our Director of Engineering and eventually as our Vice President of Engineering. For decades, he was the go-to guy on all matters technical. He had a real gift and we were lucky that he chose to share it with us.

The team that grew under his leadership represents an incredibly diverse and talented group of engineering experts in their own right. Nerds of the highest order—and proud of it. It’s these individuals that have contributed their extensive industry insights to our Bob’s Brain articles. Bob continues to set a very high bar around here, which means we’ll only ever share the smartest and most well researched content with you.

We invite you to pick Bob’s Brain whenever you find yourself facing any technical questions about power and data. Because knowledge is power.

So, let Byrne—and the power of Bob’s Brain—be your knowledge.
